The story

The book he wished he had.

David grew up in a family with no aviation background and built his own path from a first lesson to an airline cockpit. He has taught as a flight instructor, worked as an FAA-certificated aircraft dispatcher and now builds training for a living.

Blackridge Press is where he publishes what he wished he'd had at each stage: a map of the path, a ground school in the right order, a structure for the checkride oral and lesson plans for new instructors.

Every cross-country starts the same way: find the highest terrain on the route and plan to clear it. On a sectional, that ridge line gets respect before anything else. A press is where knowledge is set down in ink, checked and made to last.

Blackridge Press puts the two together. Find the hard part first, plan a clear path over it and write it down accurately enough to rely on. The mark tells the same story: a black ridge resting on a gold rule, the line of a printed page.

A people company

We use the tools. People do the teaching.

There seems to be a new company every day pushing AI-generated content into every corner of every industry, education included. Much of it is fluent, unsourced and quietly wrong. In aviation, quietly wrong is how people get hurt.

We are not against technology. Our lessons are interactive, narration may be synthetic, Aviation Test Prep has an AI tutor, and AI tools help us draft and search faster. Those are tools. Blackridge Press is a people company: the people who design, check and stand behind the training are the product.

Every lesson is sequenced and written by someone who has taught it in the classroom and the airplane, not generated from a prompt.

Every fact is traced to its FAA source and checked line by line before release. A tool's draft is never the final word.
